Nathan ("Nate") Gates works as a dive master and boat captain when he isn't collecing reef fish surveys for the Reef Environmental Education Foundations (www.reef.org).
Nate has been living, diving and photographing fish in the Virgin Islands since 1989. He is rated as one of REEF's expert reef fish surveyors. Nate has documented previously unrecorded Red Grouper and Dwarf Sand Perch populations in the marine reserve surrounding Nazareth Bay on St. Thomas, which is the location of Aqua Action Dive Center. Nate confirms the identity of the fish he survey's using a simple Canon S400 Elph digital camera in a Canon DC800 housing.
